How to be casually chic
Updated: Feb 1, 2020
Over the past couple years, I've found my personal style. I've grown to love effortlessly chic and classy clothing, and definitely been influenced by major fashion brands such as Chanel (my favourite #luxurybrand). Whenever I see their designs and accessories, it simply exudes timelessness and class.
Of course I would love a wardrobe of high end and luxury items but it's not very realistic. However, it's possible to mimic certain elements of these fashion houses and incorporate that into your personal style.
On a regular day when I'm out and about, sometimes I just want to look a little extra put together. Just wearing a cute outfit is an automatic mood changer and confidence booster. I make every effort to try to be casually #chic. Here are some things to keep in mind when curating a chic and elegantly casual look.

Keep it monochromatic
#Monochromatic dressing gives an air that you didn't even have to think twice about planning an outfit because it just works. A single-coloured outfit undoubtedly looks so polished and classy. You can add some contrast by adding a pattern, but ensure that it's not too busy; so as to distract from the overall look. I love vertical stripes as they help to elongate the legs. I'm a tall girl but the illusion of looking taller is always welcomed #modelbehaviour. Clothing that is well tailored, automatically looks more #sleek!
Wear a small heel
As much as I love wearing my high heels, I've been loving wearing shorter heels. They give just the right amount of gusto to a casual day look. An added bonus, is how comfortable they are! I've found a dupe to the Chanel sling back shoe in this pair that I've purchased from Payless ShoeSource and I could not be happier. They easily make my casual looks a bit more elegant and the chunkier heel, it makes moving around that much easier!
I have always liked yellow gold jewellry, ever since I was younger. So my accessories tend to be in that particular metal; but it all boils down to personal preference. Dainty rings are my go-to and I've been loving stacking them for a while now (check out my post on How to: Ring Stacking for more). Chain detail is another nice feature that has also been a #Chanelinspired element. Here I'm wearing a gold necklace that I used as a bracelet #multifunctional. A statement piece is generally a nice added touch and so, I paired my medium sized gold hoop earrings with the rest of my jewellry pieces.
Oversized sunglasses are an #essential. Apart from their benefit of protecting the eyes from UV rays, they instantly create a refined and chic demeanor. It helps to find a pair that suits your face shape but it's always fun to play around with different looks. After all it's fashion, and you can create your own style rules! #beyou.
Obsessed doesn't even begin to describe how I feel about small handbags #lovethem. They are just so darn cute and come in endless styles, so it's easy to find ones that fit your wardrobe and personals style. I gravitate toward more neutral colours, as I'm then able to easily pair my handbags with any outfit. Overall, cute but functional is the name of the game, so your bag should fit your basic items; for example your wallet/card purse, makeup items, phone and keys.
Simple, clean and neutral makeup with just the right amount of glow #timeless. Here, I opted for a neutral lippie but a red lip can always be substituted. Matte brown eyeshadow and a strong brow help to frame the face and pull the entire look together.
These types of looks can easily transition from day to night. Do you have a go-to outfit that makes you look and feel casually chic? I'd love to know, so leave me a comment. Don't forget to like and share this post! xx
