are you ready to glow with Cedros Bay Cosmetics?
Updated: Feb 1
Locally crafted, organic, vegan, cruelty and paraben free with environmentally friendly packaging. These are just some of the amazing qualities of the Cedros Bay Cosmetics line. So have you heard of them?
Well they're a line of products created in the beautiful Caribbean island of Trinidad by the company CGA Caribbean. Their products focus on being all natural while being a sustainable brand #recyclable. You're probably wondering "how can a product have all of these features?". Almost seems too good to be true right? Well, you better believe that this brand has been able to combine all of these elements to create some all-star products! In this current time of encouraging safer manufacturing practices to help save our environment, I think CGA Caribbean is ahead of the game with this new line.
So, do you want the secret to being a Glowing Caribbean Goddess? I mean who doesn't right? #yesplease. Cedros Bay Cosmetics has some pretty great products to help you with that. They created not one, or even two, but four organic coconut based products that will make body skin care a breeze.
I was lucky enough to attend their Pop Up Shop at Dianne Tea Shop; the day after their official launch .On walking in, I felt like I was transported to a mini tropical hideaway. The decor was beautiful and complimented the simple tropical island aesthetic of their packaging.
It was a pleasure to greet the warm and lovely Gabrielle Agostini of CGA Caribbean. She's also a local travel blogger known as The Trini Traveller. She briefed me on the inspiration for the line, the current products and future items that would be added to the Cedros Bay Cosmetics line #getready!
The line consists of a coconut scrub, coffee scrub, coconut body lotion and coconut lip balm. Each product is available separately but can be purchased as a gift set; which comes with a waterproof travel bag designed by Island Bags (Bajan brand by Lilian Russell). I opted for the gift set of course, because I love body care items especially body scrubs; and the products seemed too amazing to miss out on trying any one of them.
Below I highlight some of the contents of each product, my experience using them and which ones I can see myself continuing to use over time.
Coconut sugar body scrub
Coconut oil is one of those products I grew up having around my home most of the time. As I got older, I came to know many of the amazing benefits of it; especially in its purest form. Personally with having generally dry skin on my body, sugar scrubs have become a go-to. So there was no second guessing using this scrub!
The scrub smells so delicious, I cannot even begin to tell you how good! #obsessed. It contains virgin coconut oil, sugar crystals and coconut meal (the stuff that's usually discarded after yielding coconut oil from the nut). Genius right? It also contains jojoba, papaya, sweet almond and avocado oils #botanicals for added skin-loving benefits such as antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
I use it on dry skin in a circular motion, as I find it gives the best exfoliation that way. It's an intense scrub but isn't harsh on the skin and after rinsing it off with warm water, my skin is left moisturized and nourished by a layer of coconut oil that remains. I use it before shaving my legs for the smoothest skin ever! Then I follow with the Coconut Body Lotion to lock in the moisture.
Coconut body lotion
It literally smells like coconut ice cream! #yummy. However, I can appreciate that the scent isn't overwhelming. With having dry, sensitive skin, scented lotions and creams normally are irritant to my skin and dry it out further. Luckily this lotion is mild and I haven't experienced any issues with it.
The lotion consists of an incredible blend of virgin coconut oil and Vitamin E; again with the added bonus of having the papaya, sweet almond, avocado and jojoba oils incorporated #botanicals. Vitamin E is well known for its antioxidant, anti-aging, anti-inflammatory and many other superb benefits for the skin.
I love applying it nightly before I go to bed and on mornings before I head to work. My skin is left blanketed in moisture and the great thing is that the formula is so comfortable and not greasy; it literally melts into the skin #perfection. It's become a staple after I exfoliate and shave my legs, to ensure my skin is left supple.
coconut coffee body scrub
Whether or not you love the smell of coffee, this scrub will be great. I'm not a coffee lover but the scent of this isn't too overpowering so I'm able to use it. However I must say, be prepared to have a temporarily messy shower #lol. This scrub utilises the grounds of locally produced coffee and sea salt with virgin coconut oil and the previously mentioned botanicals for added skin care benefits.
I use this scrub in the shower with my skin still dry, in a circular motion, and rinse with warm water. Immediately I am able to feel the moisture of the coconut oil that's left behind. Again, I follow with the Coconut body lotion and my skin remains hydrated overnight.
coconut lip balm
The skin of our lips are very commonly neglected but we must remember that like any other part of our face; our lips are exposed to the elements on a daily basis. For example, hot and cold beverages, sun exposure and lipsticks and glosses. We're actually supposed to wear SPF or SPF containing products on our lips #foodforthought.
I was very hesitant to try this product because I've had a tough time with lip care products in the past. My skin is very sensitive and my lips are no exception. Certain oils and additives leave my lips irritated and dry so, I avoid many commonly marketed lip balms.
I discovered my holy grail lip mask in Bite Beauty's Agave lip mask; as the longevity of its moisture is unlike any other product I've tried before. Thus it has been perfect for my perpetually dry lips. So I wasn't sure if I should digress from it. But I eventually decided to give this coconut lip balm a go.
It definitely has a nice smooth feel and a subtle coconut scent. It contains virgin coconut oil, peppermint and lemon. There's also Shea butter, Vitamin E and a blend of botanicals. However for me personally, it did not keep my lips hydrated for as long a period of time as I'd liked and I found myself reapplying frequently; but for some, this may not be an issue.
It's always best to remember that skin care is subjective and very personal. So, bear in mind that what may not work for me may work beautifully for you...and vice versa! Learning about your skin type helps with streamlining what type of products may work best for you #doyourreseach. Coconut oil is one of those products that generally works well for most, so I'd say the Cedros Bay Cosmetics line is definitely one worth trying. The Coconut sugar scrub is by far my most loved and I can definitely see myself repurchasing it! #yestosmoothskin.
Have you tried any of these products? If so, I'd love to know which one(s). Also let me know what product you're hoping they launch next #letschat!
